Waterjet cutting is considered a non-conventional material processing method that relies on the process of mechanical material removal. Abrasive waterjet is a thin stream of a mixture of water and abrasive quartz sand under high pressure that acts on the material being processed and erodes the base material, thereby cutting it.
Water- jet technology enables cutting of metals (stainless steel, aluminum alloys, hardened steel, castings, welded parts, multi-layer laminated parts, copper, and brass up to 150 mm thickness), hard metals, glass, stone, granite, plastic, rubber, wood, and polystyrene.
